1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?
Not very long at all really, I’d say that everything has come together in the last year or so. I have always loved drawing and I specialised in sculpture when I was at school, but both my parents were artists who had to shift their career paths due to the instability of income. When I said I wanted to go to art school they teamed up with my art teacher to convince me that the only way to be an artist without poverty was to marry rich, which didn’t seem very appealing either! Illustrator Interview 17: Laura Anderson

1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?
Well I studied for three years at University College Falmouth taking on professional projects in the meantime, so it makes sense to say three years!

2. What inspires your work?
Well, there are quite few things that inspire me, but I think people who know me will agree that I am heavily influenced by anything to do with space and the cosmos. Somehow, even to my own surprise, a star will appear somewhere in most of my work! (more…)

Illustrator Interview 15: Clare Elsom


1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?
I sincerely wish I could say I was one of those people who were born with a pencil in their hand, drawing from before they could talk… but in all honesty I’m really not!! I’m a creative person, and art has always been a huge interest and a passion of mine – but it’s definitely a career I have sought out and worked towards, rather than the inevitable path for me.

I now feel like I’ve been absorbed by the illustration industry for as long as I can remember… but realistically I have only been illustrating (more…)
