Illustrator Interview 14: Shaun Gordon

1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?
I always preferred it to other subjects in school. I remember drawing Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles to an immaculate standard in the late 80′s/early 90′s. It took me so long to get their heads right and their little tails always looked like penis’s. It was always just fun to draw things. I don’t think I’m that great at drawing but I always had some odd ideas. I was around 10 and I drew a dog on my friends head in biro because I thought when he was old and bald it would still be there. I hope it is! (more…)

Illustrator / Artist Interview 11 – Laura Taylor

1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?
I been an illustrator for 7 years now, ever since I picked up a pen instead of a mouse during a graphic design lesson and quickly decided it was time to change courses.

I remember once really struggling with a book I was trying to put together, I had done so much research and drawn 100′s of images but nothing was working for me. I had a break and went off for some retail theory when my beloved iPod broke. It was being stuck on a bus with a load of school children with no iPod that ended up giving me all the inspiration I need. Just a simple argument between two girls (more…)

Illustrator / Artist Interview 10 – Pat Perry

1. How long have you been an illustrator/artist?

Well I’m pretty young still, but I started my career as an artist when I was 2, drawing monster trucks.I had a good experience at that age, and I think the momentum never really stopped.

2. What inspires your work?
I know everyone says this in one way or another, but definitely my environment. People around me and things I see, phrases I hear, and Michigan. Michigan is the state I grew up in, and I can’t deny my love for the place, or the prominence it has in my work. Relationships in people, and wild personalities also really interest me, and I have tried to portray these characteristics many a time. I’ve always loved camping, and am always pretty inspired by forests, fields and creatures too. (more…)
