I’m a Scientist Get me out of here is a educational web event which breaks down barriers and gets scientists and young people talking.
Dot Design worked on the logo design, website design, teachers packs and promotional material for this excellent event. Designing the look and feel from the very beginning we produced an identity which sat well with another similar project ran by Gallomanor called I’m a Councillor Get me out of here.
I’m a Scientist needed to visually work with this project but also set its self apart and have its own branding and look. Taking a contemporary and bright colour palette we made the branding eye catching and modern, incorporating scientific icons and symbols. The website we designed which can be seen here incorporated the established brand colours and elements such as a facebook style message “wall” and also a big brother style gallery.
We also designed teachers pack which contained worksheets for use in lessons right across the national curriculum. Other work included teachers notes and a set of cards for use by students designed to encourage debate and discussion.

Heres is abit more about what I’m a scientist is all about…
Young People – get engaged with How Science Works Scientists – find out about how young people feel, their concerns and enthusiasms Teachers – get a ready-made, memorable way to teach HSW, where the work is all done for them. Although the event is now over for this year – for the two weeks of the event, young people use web technology they feel comfortable with, to ‘meet’ scientists from around the country. They ask questions and have live chats with scientists, and then vote for their favourite. The winning scientist will receive £500, to be used to publicise their work. I’m a Scientist brings people together, gives young people a voice and teaches them about science in a fun and memorable way.
