Funnily enough I saw a text effect similar to this (putting patterns behind/within the text) in a magazine this week in a Skinny Cow advert. I was so taken by the idea of putting a pattern within the text that I tore it out so I can photograph it and write about it in my blog! :) Your sample looks great and I love the way the pattern is on the outside of the text as well, and that's its very random and arty. A random look is harder to achieve that it looks. I love that design, very striking.
