The New Apple MacBook Pro – and is it enough of an improvement?

Photobucket
I’ve been wanting to purchase a MacBook for a few weeks now but have held off as I’ve heard rumours about a NEW MacBook that Apple were going to launch, well Tuesday 14th October they finally launched it.

I does look like a great product, far more environmentally friendly, faster, lighter, thinner.

In terms of the environment it has:

Highly recyclable aluminum and glass enclosure

Mercury-free LED-backlit display

Arsenic-free glass

BFR-free internal components

PVC-free internal cables

Meets ENERGY STAR requirements

EPEAT Gold rating

It has some of the following features:

Precision aluminium unibody enclosure.
From one solid piece of aluminium comes a MacBook Pro that’s thin and light, beautifully streamlined, and durable.

Ultrathin 15-inch LED-backlit display.
Seamless glass and instant full screen brightness make everything you see flat-out spectacular. Including the display itself.

High-performance NVIDIA graphics.
The GeForce 9600M GT delivers faster discrete graphics performance to high-end 3D games and pro applications.

All-new, smooth glass Multi-Touch trackpad.
It’s redesigned with even more room for even more gestures. Now the entire glass trackpad is also the button, so it’s clickable everywhere.
All great features I think you’ll agree

BUT

Its even more expensive and is it enough of an improvement?

Considering the same purchase, along with a new LED 24″ Apple Display, which I just found out does not work with previous gen. MacBook Pro’s because of missing DisplayPort and port locations (if there were a DVI – DisplayPort converter). Also wary of giving up my MBP’s matte screen, for two glossy screens, but maybe that is not as important as I think since I will be using PMS color swatches for color matching anyway.

The New macbook is something that takes a bit of getting used to with the multi-touch pad, but it is an awesome advance on the older version.

  3. I love the new pros. I personally did not upgrade because i was waiting for the 13″

Well, now its here. Its cheaper too.

I suggest this is a nice time to buy it OR wait for the snow leopard release :)
